More than 100 students attended a Moon Festival celebration organized by the Chinese Club, Japanese Club, and United Asia at Calvin Durand Hall on October 7. The event aimed to honor the Mid-Autumn Festival, a tradition observed in many East and Southeast Asian cultures.
The festival is recognized as a time for giving thanks for the harvest, honoring the full moon, and gathering with family and friends. Participants at the event shared food from local restaurant Lao Sze Chuan and enjoyed traditional mooncakes. The evening also included musical performances, such as "Valentine" sung by Yuki Dolkar ’27 with piano accompaniment by Sona Akiyama ’27.
"The event highlighted the power of cultural traditions to bring the campus community together—celebrating both shared heritage and new connections," organizers said.
The Moon Festival has been celebrated for generations as a symbol of unity and renewal among communities that observe it.
