The journal Science on Thursday named Abbott Park's Abbott Laboratories the 14th best biotech/pharmaceutical employer in the world.
The survey solicited feedback from more than 5,700 scientists on 23 different aspects, such as image, financial prowess, leadership and direction, work culture/environment, location, and academic and intellectual challenge.
This is the 12th time Abbott has been included on the Top 20 list.
"The people who work at Abbott are passionate about advancing science and technology, and we're happy to support them in reaching their professional best," Robert Miller, co-chair of Abbott's Scientific Governing Board, said. "With our global footprint and diverse business profile, scientists can have multiple careers within the same company at Abbott."
In addition to the variety of work available and the potential for global impact, the company also cites its culture of presenting a variety of internal employee awards as part of the reason Abbott is a great place at which to work.
The Science honor is among several the company has earned for its quality of employment. Abbott also has been one of Fortune magazine's "America's Most Admired Companies" every year for the past 23 years, as well as a top employer, Working Mother and DiversityInc magazines said.
Abbott has roughly 73,000 employees, with operations in over 150 countries.
