Lake Forest ranked 800th in state in lottery ticket sales for March 2016

The City of Lake Forest had the 800th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of March 2016 -- up 5 spots from its February ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Lake Forest was $5.90 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Lake County Gazette, Lake Forest generated $114,472 in net sales from its four lottery retailers in March 2016, compared to $116,564 in March 2015.

The City of Lake Forest is in Lake County, and has a population of 19,408, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Lake Bluff, North Chicago, Green Oaks, Knollwood, Mettawa, Bannockburn, Highland Park, Highwood and Lincolnshire.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in March 2016 was $29,904.08.

Lake Forest's top lottery retailer is Lake Forest Oasis located at 13783 West Oasis Service Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045.

Lake Forest Oasis generated 46 percent of Lake Forest's March 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of Lake County's sales that month, which was $11,004,702.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Lake County in 2015 were Wadsworth, Hainesville, Lake Villa, Antioch and Fox Lake.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
