City of Highland Park issued the following announcement on Jan. 22.
In an effort to grow and adapt in an ever changing social and economic landscape, the City of Highland Park has partnered with Visit Lake County (visitlakecounty.org) to encourage more visitors and tourism to the City and throughout Lake County. Tourism continues to make key contributions to quality of life in cities as an economic driver. In 2018, visitor spending in Lake County, Illinois, rose to a record $1.34 billion and generated 11,030 jobs.
“The City’s partnership with Visit Lake County provides a number of resources to attract and welcome more visitors, businesses, and new residents,” said Mayor Nancy Rotering. “Highland Park is home to nine unique shopping districts including a vibrant downtown; Ravinia Festival, the oldest outdoor music festival in North America; access to local and regional trails and award winning beaches; and year-round events.”
“This partnership is very exciting for both our organizations, and Lake County as a whole,” said Visit Lake County President Maureen Riedy. “It provides the opportunity to showcase amazing recreation and leisure experiences, and opens doors for economic development and new business relocations.”
As a Visit Lake County partner, the City of Highland Park will be listed in Visit Lake County Visitor Guides and at www.visitlakecounty.org. Individual businesses will also have access to Visit Lake County marketing and communication tools. With the assistance of Visit Lake County and their additional modes of communication, the City anticipates increased attendance at local events, increased foot traffic throughout the year, increased interest from potential businesses and new residents.
