City of Highland Park issued the following announcement on June 18.
Celebrate our nation and 150 years of Highland Park at this year’s Fourth of July Celebration! All events will occur on Thursday, July 4, 2019. Descendants of the City’s first families will serve as the 2019 Parade Grand Marshals.
Children’s Bike & Pet Parade 9:30 AM | Downtown Highland Park
Sponsored by the Highland Park Chamber of Commerce | To participate, meet in the lower level of the parking garage at Laurel and St. Johns Avenues.
HP150 Main Parade 10 AM | *New Parade Route*
The parade begins at the intersection of Laurel Ave. and St. Johns Ave., proceeds on St. Johns to Elm Place, west on Elm Place, immediately south on First St., west along Central Ave., to Sunset Woods Park.
Coordinated by the City of Highland Park and Park District of Highland Park.
Big Bash & Fourth Fest 11 AM – 2 PM | Sunset Woods Park
Attractions: Carnival Rides, Petting Zoo, Pony Rides, Carnival Games, Inflatables, and Climbing Wall.
HP150 Big Bash Events: Pie-Eating Contest, Games, Free Birthday Cake, and Community Photo
Live music: Pavilion Stage: HP Pops
Main Stage: Rod Tuffcurls and the Benchpress

Unlimited Ride Wristbands: Available for Pre-Purchase for $20 June 25 – July 3 at the Recreation Center of Highland Park, West Ridge Center, and Highland Park Bank and Trust (1949 St. Johns Ave. & 623 Roger Williams) or at Event for $25. Cash-only event.

Bitter Jester Music Festival 4 PM – 9:30 PM | Wolters Field
The grand finale of the Bitter Jester Music Festival begins at 4 PM. Food vendors are onsite during the concert and leading up to the aerial fireworks display at 9:30 PM. Parking is available at Wolters Field, Highland Park Hospital’s East Parking Lot, or in the Recreation Center of Highland Park parking lot.
