City of Highland Park Cultural Arts Advisory Group met Nov. 7.

Here is the minutes provided by the advisory group:

CALL TO ORDER Chair Ricciardelli called the meeting to order at 7:08 PM.

I. ROLL CALL

Members Present:

Chair Catherine Ricciardelli, Vice Chair Judith Kaufman, Jeffrey Arena, Laura Kramer, Joanne Bernstein, Marjorie Rissman, James M. Lynch, John Blane, Student Representative Caroline Millen, Council Liaison Kim Stone, and Staff Liaison Hayley Garard.

Members Absent:

Abby Neumann, Steven F. Greene, and Student Representative Catherine Chen.

a. Consideration of Meeting Minutes – August 8, 2019

Group Member Bernstein moved to approve the minutes. Vice Chair Kaufman seconded.

Art Conservator for Outdoor Public Art Condition Assessment and Restoration Plan RFP

The CAAG reviewed the Request for Proposals (RFP) for an Art Conservator for Outdoor Public Art Condition Assessment and Restoration Plan. Chair Ricciardelli suggests the price included in the RFP is too low. The CAAG suggests removing the price from the RFP. Chair Ricciardelli also suggests waiting until the second meeting of the year to select a conservator from the proposals since the membership will be significantly changing.

2020 Workplan Discussion

Discussion of the 2020 workplan was postponed to next meeting since the membership will be significantly changing.

Joanne Bernstein would like to continue to discuss lighting for Ingress. The group plans to order solar lights to install around Ingress.

2020 Meeting Resolution Review

Joanne Bernstein moved to approve the 2020 Meeting Resolution. Jeff Arena seconded.

Thank You to Outgoing Group Members

The group thanked outgoing members including Chair Ricciardelli.

Staff Report

Staff Liaison Garard reminded members about the upcoming Census and the upcoming recognition of CAAG at the November 12, 2019 City Council Meeting. Staff liaison Garard also announced that CAAG will have a new staff liaison next year.

Chair Report/ Student Liaison Report

Other Business

James Lynch discussed a possible mural project. James will email the idea to Council liaison Stone who will look into how to get permission to use the suggested wall.

John Blane suggests modifying the current Ingress landscaping to match the original proposal that had openings to cut through.

Adjournment

Vice Chair Kaufman moved to adjourn. Laura Kramer seconded. The meeting adjourned at 8:16 PM.
