The data shows 59 men and seven women were released in Lake County. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 39. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2022, and the oldest was a 72-year-old man sentenced for a sex crime in 2016.
The offender incarcerated the longest was Warren Peters Jr.. He was convicted of homicide in 1984 when he was 30 years old. He is now 68.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
