FOIA Request to City of Zion Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Lake County Gazette have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140).
Our request is specifically for a list of all parking violations currently unpaid within the jurisdiction of the City of Zion. The requested details include the name of the offender, their address, the amount due, violation date, and total due.
As a media organization, we are deeply involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records such as these is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We eagerly await the response from City of Zion officials and will continue to keep our readers informed about this and other matters affecting our community.
