FOIA Request to City of Waukegan Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Lake County Gazette have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Waukegan. The request, sent on October 28, 2024, seeks information regarding all currently unpaid parking violations within the city.

The specifics of the request include obtaining a list that details the name of each offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date of each violation, and the total amount due overall. This information is sought in an electronic format for ease of access and dissemination.

We believe that access to such public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities as journalists. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information to the community, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from the City of Waukegan and will continue to keep our readers informed about local governmental affairs.
