Registration for the Round Lake Police Department's inaugural Citizens Police Academy class conducted in Spanish concludes at 4 p.m. on January 15. The six-week program is scheduled to commence on February 5.

According to a news release from Round Lake, the program aims to provide residents with a general understanding of the operations of the Round Lake Beach Police Department. This includes insight into its personnel and the organizations and law enforcement partners that support the department's daily functions.

The release specifies that participants must be at least 18 years old, possess good moral character, and have no prior felony convictions. Each applicant will undergo a background check, including verification of driver's license status. Any intentional misrepresentation by an applicant will result in immediate expulsion.

Classes are set to take place on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m., running from February 5 through March 12. Participants are required to attend at least four out of the six sessions to receive a certificate of completion. The class size is limited to a maximum of 25 individuals.

Interested residents can apply for a spot in the class using the Round Lake Beach Police Department Citizens Police Academy online application available at their website.
