The Deerpath Streetscape project in Lake Forest is set to commence in mid-January 2025, beginning with the replacement of a water main. This initial phase is part of a broader initiative focused on pedestrian safety, infrastructure renewal, and community beautification.
According to a news release, the first phase will involve replacing the century-old water main and will restrict traffic to one-way eastbound-only on Deerpath from Green Bay Road to Western Avenue. Parking will be prohibited along the project area during this time.
The second phase of the project will focus on streetscape enhancements and is scheduled from May through October 2025. During this period, Deerpath Road will be closed to vehicles but accessible to pedestrians between Oakwood Avenue and Western Avenue.
The city's website invites residents to participate in two "Cookies and Construction: Deerpath Streetscape Project Pop-Ups" sessions. These events provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the project, ask questions, and discuss upcoming developments while enjoying a cookie. The sessions are scheduled for January 6 and January 8, 2025. In case of inclement weather, the pop-up will be relocated to the atrium of the Arcade Building at 227 E Deerpath.
