The Municipality of Anchorage has announced the launch of a new app aimed at helping residents manage their waste disposal more effectively.
"Collection Calendar: Never miss a pick-up day again. The collection calendar will provide information on your pick-up day and will even send you a reminder the day before to take your garbage out," said the announcement.
The app also features a "What Goes Where Search Tool," enabling users to determine whether certain items are recyclable or should be discarded as garbage. Additionally, it helps locate drop-off points for various materials.
Residents can report issues such as broken bins or missed collections through the Problem Reporting feature. "Broken bins, missed collections, wrong information – you can let us know about it right away from the Help tool," the announcement added.
For those interested in enhancing their recycling knowledge, the app offers interactive Learning Modules. "So, you think you’re a recycling pro? Prove it with quizzes, polls, and other interactive features that challenge people of all ages," said the release.
The app is available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
