Clarke Mosquito is set to conduct a village-wide mosquito spraying in Vernon Hills on the evening of July 15th, weather permitting. Residents interested in receiving prior notification can contact the Clarke Mosquito Hotline at 630-671-3100 to be added to the "Prior Notification List." They will need to provide their name, address, and phone number for this service.
In addition, residents are advised to follow guidelines from the CDC for preventing mosquito bites. Recommendations include using EPA-approved repellents containing DEET, Picaridin, IR3535, or Oil of Lemon/Eucalyptus. It is also suggested to wear long pants and sleeves in light colors since mosquitoes are attracted to dark colors. Limiting outdoor activities during dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active is recommended.
Residents should take measures indoors and outdoors to control mosquito populations. This includes using air conditioning or screens to keep mosquitoes out of homes, eliminating standing water where mosquitoes can breed, maintaining short grass lawns, disposing of items that collect water such as buckets and flowerpots, and using fans both indoors and outdoors.
