United Township High School District 30 has announced several updates and events for students in September.
Homecoming permission slips for outside guests are now available in the general office or student services. Forms must be submitted with the guest's ID by Wednesday, September 24. Students are reminded to monitor their discipline records if they plan to attend the dance.
Seniors interested in being on the Homecoming Royalty Ballot will receive a Google Form on Monday, September 8, which must be completed by Friday, September 12 at 3 pm. Eligibility requirements include passing five classes, having no more than five referrals this semester, and no more than five days of excused or unexcused absences this semester.
Class shirts for the homecoming assembly are back on sale until Wednesday, September 10.
The school is organizing a Europe Trip in summer 2026 for UTHS students to visit Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, and Hungary. The trip includes stops in Prague, Krakow, Budapest, Berlin’s historic sites including WWII locations and Auschwitz. An informational meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 10 at 6 pm in the UTHS library.
In guidance news, Bradley University representatives will visit UTHS on Thursday, September 11 during Period 8. Interested students should sign up in the Guidance Office. The Army National Guard will also be present at UT during all lunch periods that day.
RICCA (Rock Island County Council of Addictions) is seeking volunteers for the QC Community Suicide Prevention Walk on Sunday, September 21 at Wharton Field House. Interested students can contact Mr. Davis.
Seniors wishing to retake the ACT can do so at UTHS on October 17; registration is open until September 26 in the counseling office.
The district has begun its fifth year of after-school activities funded by the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center grant. Clubs starting from September 8 include E-Sports Club, Peer Mentoring Club, STEM Club, UTime Club, Gearheads Club, Multicultural Club, Health Occupations Preparation for Excellence, Zero Hour Tutoring/Credit Recovery and Black Hawk Adult Education Courses. More information is available from the counseling office or via email; registration is required.
AP testing sign-ups are underway; students enrolled in AP classes will register through their teachers while others should visit the counseling office to sign up.
Sports updates include an open softball workout scheduled for Wednesday, September 10 from 3:30-5 pm on the varsity field; questions can be directed to Coach Alonzo or Coach Tapia. Girls interested in joining next season’s bowling team have a meeting set for Wednesday at 3:10 pm inside the library seminar room; inquiries may be sent to Coach Krack.
Club meetings this week include HOPE club gathering Wednesday from 3:15-5:00 pm in room 189V with committee voting planned and Student Council meeting Friday at 7:30 am in room 109S where Homecoming decorations will be discussed. Gearheads Club meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:15 PM in Auto Mechanics shop with sign-up sheets available from Mr Ron or Mr Thirtyacre as well as in counseling.
