It is harvest season at Northbrook Junior High's organic garden, where students are engaging in hands-on science activities. First graders from Meadowbrook School visited the garden and worked with eighth graders from Mr. Kostal's and Ms. Stout's classes. The students used magnifying glasses to observe plants and insects closely, documenting their findings through scientific drawings in their notebooks. According to organizers, this activity was designed to teach students about observation and collaboration.

The NBJH garden, which opened in 2013, is maintained with help from a local gardening service. The school uses produce grown in the garden in cafeteria meals, providing students with fresh ingredients.
