Students at United Township High School District 30 received several updates and reminders on October 20, 2025, about upcoming events, club meetings, and academic opportunities.
The school cafeteria announced a menu featuring Southwest Mac & Cheese with a whole grain dinner roll, spicy chicken tenders, mixed green salad, broccoli, baby carrots with dip, and assorted fresh fruit.
Picture retake and make-up day is scheduled for Tuesday, October 21 in the auditorium from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Students must attend on their own time and should request passes from teachers before arriving. The school emphasized that this is the last chance for students to ensure their photo appears in the yearbook.
A Hunger Drive Skate Night will take place Thursday, October 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission requires either three canned goods or $5 per person; skate rental fees are not included. All attendees must pay admission.
On Thursday, October 23, fifty parking spots at the south end of the student lot will be reserved for college vendors attending the college fair. Students were advised not to park in these spaces as staff will monitor them.
United Township High School (UTHS) will offer the ASVAB test on November 13. Practice materials are available through school counselors or Mr. Davis, College & Career Advisor.
Volunteer opportunities are available with the Hampton Youth Committee for their annual Boo Bash event on Friday, October 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Interested students can contact Mr. Davis for more information.
Free ACT tutoring sessions continue on Saturdays through November 15 at Davenport Central High School’s library for juniors and seniors interested in additional preparation.
In sports news, Scholastic Bowl team practice was held after school in Mr. Carlson’s room (216 South). Boys interested in basketball were asked to attend a meeting on Tuesday, November 4 immediately after school in the Commons area; questions can be directed to Coach Saey or Coach Whiteman. Boys’ tennis hopefuls met today after school in Mr. Cahalan’s room (226E) to discuss off-season activities.
Several clubs provided updates:
- Audition and crew applications for "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" winter play were due by the end of fifth period.
- Interact Club invited all students to its next meeting Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m.
- Gearheads Club called for members interested in building a Ford Explorer Dragster with meetings Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:15 p.m.
- Honey Bees club requested RSVPs for its fall retreat by Tuesday.
- Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) planned its first post-break meeting Tuesday morning.
- P7 Club scheduled its next meeting Friday morning focusing on forgiveness.
- Student Council will meet Friday morning to discuss the Student Hunger Drive.
- Hope Club will meet Wednesday afternoon focusing on HOSA events.
