Coalers boys soccer wins regional championship in shootout

The Coalers Boys Soccer Team won the Regional Championship on Saturday, defeating Joliet Catholic Academy in a shootout with a final score of 3-2. The match was decided when goalie Carter Nicholson blocked JCA’s fifth kick, after which his teammates lifted him up while holding the Regional Championship plaque.

The team will advance to the IHSA Sectional Tournament and is scheduled to play Herscher at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28. Coal City will host the Sectional, and fans are encouraged to attend and sit in the east bleachers. Tickets are priced at $8 per person if purchased in advance at https://gofan.co/event/4941618?schoolId=IL15444, or $10 per person for cash purchases at the gate. Passes will not be accepted for entry.
