The Lake County Board approved its 2016 budget and tax levy at its regular meeting Nov. 10.
The County also authorized several agreements, including a memorandum of understanding with several local and federal agencies to strengthen the Lake County Gang Task Force.
The participating agencies include the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the Park City Police Department, the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration Customs Enforcement, Enforcement Removal Operations, the Village of Grayslake, the Lake County Forest Preserve and Homeland Security Investigations.
The agencies will work together to establish goals and a framework for preventing and discouraging gang violence in Lake County.
The county also signed a $1.4 million deal with Election Systems & Software LLC for Lake County voting systems as well as a $309,092 contract with DLR Group for engineering and consulting work associated with the renovation of the Robert W. Depke Juvenile Justice Center
The Lake County Department of Planning, Building and Development will become the official plan reviewer and inspector for Lake Zurich, after the board unanimously approved an Intergovernmental Agreement with the village.
The county also took steps toward building a multi-use trail from I-94 to the Van Patten Woods/Des Plaines River Trail by approving an agreement with the Lake County Forest Preserve District for the necessary land tracts.
The board began its meeting with a reading of a resolution honoring military veterans.
Board member Bill Durkin was absent.
