It was a big victory for the United Vision for Round Lake Beach slate in the April 6 consolidated election in Lake County.
Round Lake Beach Mayor-elect Scott Nickles confirmed this on social media, thanking his slate’s supporters.
“Thank you!” Nickles posted on Facebook. “I just want to reach every voter and say thank you from the bottom of my heart for electing me mayor, electing Dana (Hillesheim) village clerk, and electing Chuck (Husk), Sylvia (Valadez), Christy (Davis) and Martha (Ibarra) as village trustee.”
The group is pleased with the election outcome which to them reflects a great public trust.
“We are all exceptionally proud that residents of Round Lake each put the confidence in us to serve the community in our elected positions, and we will strive every day to make Round Lake Beach a better place to live, work and play,” he continued.
Nickles also stated that they are doing their best to remove their campaign materials.
“One last housecleaning item: we have been out all day cleaning up the many campaign signs, and we intend to continue to drive around and clean up signs until they are all gone. However, those of you in possession of a small yard sign who do not wish to wait for us to pull up, feel free to put the sign in the recycling bin.”
United Vision is a group of Round Lake Beach residents who "share a vision for the future" of the community working together to achieve what’s best for their community, the Lake County Gazette reported.
Nickles, who was appointed to become the interim mayor after Mayor Richard Hill resigned, defeated Democrat Nitai Pandya.
Former Republican House candidate Jim Walsh supported Nickles and his team.
