Q3 2021 Recap: 4 parolees from Lake County convicted of crimes involving alcohol set for release

There were four offenders convicted of crimes involving alcohol living in Lake County released on parole during the third quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Lake County Gazette.

The data shows all of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving alcohol was 42. The youngest parolee was a 30-year-old man sentenced in 2021, and the oldest was a 70-year-old man sentenced in 2019.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Terrell Garrett. He was convicted in 2014 when he was 36 years old. He is now 45.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
