Q2 2022 Recap: 12 parolees from Lake County convicted of crimes against persons set for release

There were 12 offenders convicted of crimes against persons living in Lake County released on parole during the second quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Lake County Gazette.

The data shows 11 men and one woman were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for crimes against persons, one was a veteran, and the median age was 37. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old man sentenced in 2022, and the oldest was a 50-year-old man sentenced in 2021.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Lavert Jones. He was convicted in 2019 when he was 29 years old. He is now 33.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
