State Senator Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods) recently championed a new legislation aimed at easing the financial burden on disabled Veterans needing home modifications. The bill, Senate Bill 2751, would eliminate building permit fees for disabled Veterans when they require home modifications to accommodate their disabilities.
“Navigating the complexities of home renovations is tough enough for disabled Veterans,” Sen. McConchie remarked. “This legislation ensures they don’t face additional financial strain with city permit fees.”
The proposed legislation aims to alleviate the financial challenges faced by disabled Veterans when making necessary modifications to their homes. Sen. McConchie highlighted the current scenario where Veterans returning from military service with disabilities are burdened with permit fees on top of the renovation costs. The bill seeks to waive these permit fees for disabled Veterans in such situations.
“Our Veterans have done so much for us, and this is just one small thing we are able to do for them,” Sen. McConchie emphasized.
Senate Bill 2751 has already successfully passed the Senate without opposition and is now poised to advance to the House for further consideration and approval.
