Attorney General Kwame Raoul has issued a warning to Illinois residents about the potential for ticket scams as summer events ramp up. In a statement, Raoul emphasized the importance of purchasing tickets from legitimate sources to avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
"Scammers often take advantage of popular events to sell fake tickets," said Raoul. "It is crucial for consumers to be vigilant and ensure they are buying from reputable sellers."
Raoul's office provided several tips for avoiding ticket scams, including purchasing directly from event venues or authorized sellers, being wary of deals that seem too good to be true, and using credit cards for purchases as they offer more protection against fraud.
The Attorney General also encouraged individuals who believe they have been scammed to report the incident to his office. "We are committed to protecting consumers and holding scammers accountable," he stated.
