Parks and Recreation Director Michael Wick is seeking approval from the Lake Forest City Council to extend a contract with Kemper Sports Management for the operations and maintenance of Deerpath Golf Course until December 31, 2029. The council will consider this request at its meeting on September 16.

According to the Lake Forest City Council agenda for September 16, the city first entered into a contract with Kemper Sports Management in January 2015. Wick's report to the council states that the ongoing success Kemper has brought to the golf course and beach concessions makes continuing the partnership in the best interest of the city.

The proposed contract extension updates the agreement to allow either party to end the contract with 90 days' notice after January 1, 2027, which marks the 20th anniversary of the original contract date.

The city has budgeted $412,297 for Kemper to manage the golf course in 2025, according to the Lake Forest City Council agenda for September 16.
