Lake County has announced that residents without access to heat can utilize various warming centers located throughout the county. The county's online Warming Center Finder provides information on open centers.
According to a Lake County news release, families and individuals are advised to call in advance to confirm availability and hours of operation.
The online Warming Center Finder lists several locations, including the Lake Forest Recreational Center at 400 Hastings Road, Lake Forest, which is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Another location in Lake Forest is Dickinson Hall at 100 E Old Mill Road, open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hawthorn Center at 122 Hawthorn Center, Vernon Hills, is also available as a warming center seven days a week.
Trinity Grace Church at 1506 Half Day Road, Highland Park, serves as another warming center. Residents are encouraged to call for specific hours. The Recreation Center of Highland Park and Highland Park City Hall also offer their facilities as warming centers with varied hours.
In Waukegan, the Patricia A. Jones Center is open on weekdays for residents aged 55 and older. The Waukegan Public Library and the Illinois Department of Human Services provide additional options for those seeking warmth during cold weather conditions.
Further locations are available in Zion, including Zion City Hall and the Zion Benton Public Library District. The T/A Truck Stop offers its facilities as a warming center around the clock.
