The City of Lake Forest has announced the appointment of Katie Skibbe as its new Finance Director following a nationwide search.
“Lake Forest is excited to welcome Katie as the next Director of Finance,” said City Manager Jason Wicha. “Katie’s expertise in blending strategic financial management with innovative solutions will be instrumental in upholding Lake Forest’s tradition of fiscal stewardship. ”
Skibbe brings over two decades of experience in financial planning and long- term capital funding. During her tenure at the Village of Buffalo Grove, she modernized financial operations and developed a five-year capital improvement plan focused on sustainability. At the Glenview Park District, she managed a $41.5 million budget, structured $35 million in capital financing, and helped maintain an Aaa bond rating. Most recently, she served as Corporate Controller at Hitchcock Design Group, leading financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting initiatives while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
In her new role as Finance Director, Skibbe will collaborate closely with the City Manager and City Council committees to develop strategic financial plans and explore creative initiatives to secure Lake Forest’s long-term fiscal health. She will oversee all aspects of financial operations including preparation of the annual budget, financial reporting, purchasing, treasury management, and utility billing.

Skibbe succeeds former Finance Director Elizabeth Holleb who retired in January. She will officially begin her role in early May.
