The Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of a man previously charged in a 2017 stabbing. The individual was apprehended on June 25, 2025, with assistance from the sheriff’s canine units after allegedly threatening to stab individuals at his residence.

According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded around 9:40 a.m. on June 25, 2025, to a residence in the 15900 block of West Wadsworth Road for a reported aggravated assault. Joshua W. Marksberry, aged 39, was accused of pulling a knife on one person and threatening to slit another's throat before fleeing on foot prior to the deputies' arrival.

Later that evening, around 8:30 p.m., a man matching Marksberry’s description was seen near Wadsworth and Dilleys roads. Deputies secured the area and canine units Hemi and Danno led them to a tent in a wooded section of the property. After being ordered to exit by deputies, Marksberry was taken into custody without incident. He faces charges of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office intends to seek pretrial detention.

Sheriff John D. Idleburg expressed satisfaction with the operation's outcome: "We are very pleased our Patrol Division and Canine Teams were able to successfully apprehend this violent man before someone was seriously injured or worse," Idleburg said in a press release. "Great job to Canines Hemi and Danno and congratulations to Canine Hemi on his first track resulting in a find!"
