Mundelein to honor WWII veterans before next week's board meeting
The Mundelein Board of Trustees and Mayor Steve Lentz have invited dozens of World War II veterans from Mundelein to a World War II Veterans' Recognition Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, before the board's regular meeting at Village Hall, 300 Plaza Circle.Approximately 40 WWII veterans have been invited, but veterans from all wars are invited to attend.

Mundelein commercial-development scene humming with activity
In response to questions from residents, Mundelein officials recently posted an update on several business projects in progress or about to commence. Rosati's Pizza is expected to open early next year in the former Applebee's location. The town also has been contacted by a business owner who is interested in opening a restaurant in the former Pizza Hut building.

Allanson Road portion east of tracks in Mundelein to be closed for pipeline repairs
A portion of Allanson Road east of the railroad tracks in Mundelein will be closed for up to two weeks while West Shore Pipeline repairs the portion of its pipeline that runs through this area. The company notified village officials that the work would begin on Nov. 3.

The Village of Mundelein Police Department will hold a public forum to encourage positive interaction between law enforcement and the community 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Mundelein High School Auditorium, 1350 West Hawley Street in Mundelein.

Mundelein gets $4.7 million in state grants for pedestrian-friendly projects
The Village of Mundelein Public Works and Engineering Department has been awarded $4.7 million in state grants for two projects that will make the village more pedestrian-friendly.Approximately $3.7 million will be spent on a pedestrian overpass for the Canadian National railroad near McKinley Ave.

Small-business development group to hold conference in Gurnee
The Illinois Small Business Development and International Trade Center (SBDC/ITC) will hold the Small Business Success in Lake County Conference for small-business owners 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 at the Holiday Inn Gurnee Convention Center.

Mundelein Grease Monkey owner awarded franchisee honor
The International Franchise Association (IFA) recently named Jim Cook, owner of the Mundelein Grease Monkey and a lifelong Mundelein resident, Franchisee of the Year. Franchise owner-operators representing 53 franchise systems were recognized during the IFA’s Franchise Action Network Annual Meeting recently in Washington, D.C., for their outstanding performance and contributions made to enhance the growth and development of franchising.
