Report: Winthrop Harbor spent $8,846 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Winthrop Harbor School District 1 is down 2 percent from five years ago, according to a Lake County Gazette analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Lake County school district spent $9,012 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,846 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 590 to 570.

Winthrop Harbor's spending in 2016-17 was 32 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
