Former state school employee Bulls Carr paid in $16K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $208K in retirement

Former state school employee Linda Bulls Carr, who retired in May 2016, saved $15,600 toward a pension over 9 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Bulls Carr would collect as much as $208,180, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Lake County Gazette.

The projection assumes Bulls Carr received $4,375 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Bulls Carr will have already received $18,302 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
