U.S. News and World Report extensively quoted Director of the Gorter Family Career Advancement Center Colleen Monks in a story on how networking in college can impact one's future career.

The article, “8 Ways to Network While You’re in College,” appeared in the Education section of U.S. News on February 21, 2023.“Internship experiences introduce students to a whole new world of professional contacts,” Monks is quoted in the story. "The Foresters CAREER mentoring program matches students with alumni based on ‘major, career, and identity preferences,’” Monks is also quoted. Monks also adds in the story that “college career centers can serve as a bridge between students and helpful alumni.”

The Lake Forest College Career Pathways preparation program takes students through four stages of personal exploration and career development we call the Career Milestones. We help students gain the skills and experiences they need to be successful and to build a strong network within their Pathway, connecting them to a network of mentors including faculty, staff, employers and trustees that will provide them with industry insight and help them land meaningful jobs.

Lake Forest has been featured, along with Stanford and Rutgers, for its institutional focus on career preparation in the Chronicle of Higher Education report on “Transforming the Campus Career Center: New Models for a New Era.”
