The Scholastic Book Fair is set to arrive at Fairmont School, offering an opportunity for families to engage with their children in selecting new books. According to studies, children tend to read more when they choose books themselves, fostering academic success and improved mental health.
Principal Elisabeth Patton said, “Many of us still remember the rush of finding the perfect book at a Scholastic Book Fair. I hope you’ll join your child at our school’s Fair and share a reading experience they’ll remember forever. ”
The Book Fair will be held from Monday, February 10th through Thursday, February 13th during various hours each day:
- Mon. Feb. 10th: 8:30am-3:00pm
- Tues. Feb. 11th: 8:30am-3:00pm; 4:00-7:00pm
- Wed. Feb. 12th: 8:30am-3:00pm
- Thurs. Feb. 13th: 8:30am-6:00pm
The event will take place in the Fairmont Library.

Parents are encouraged to set up a Book Fair eWallet, a digital payment account that allows children to shop without cash. The eWallet link can also be shared with friends and family for added funds.
Patton highlighted another aspect of the fair saying, “When you fund an eWallet, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a giving initiative called Share the Fair. Your contributions directly support our students who need help buying books from the Fair. ”
Families are invited not only for the experience but also because every purchase benefits Fairmont School District #89.
