Beginning March 3, 2025, students and teachers in Illinois will have the chance to participate in the eleventh annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey aims to provide a detailed view of the internal operations of schools. Parents and guardians can share their thoughts on school effectiveness through this survey.

The Illinois State Board of Education has tasked UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago with administering the survey online. The survey collects data related to five indicators that predict important student outcomes, such as improved attendance and increased test scores. These indicators are effective leaders, collaborative teachers, involved families, supportive environments, and ambitious instruction.

Additionally, some districts have opted for an optional parent survey supplement. If at least 20 percent of North Prairie Junior High parents or guardians complete this survey, a parent report will be generated. The parent data will not appear on the State Report Card. Participation in this portion will help understand school conditions and guide improvements. Responses will remain confidential.

The Illinois 5Essentials Survey for students and teachers will occur during a specified window, along with the Parent Survey Supplement. To participate in the survey, visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate option. For more information or previous reports, visit https://www.5-essentials.org/illinois. Questions can be directed to UChicago Impact Survey Support at 1-866-440-1874 or impact-surveys@uchicago.edu.
