Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) records show that 87.0 percent of Lake Zurich High School's (LZHS) 2015 graduating class enrolled in college within 12 months of graduation.
The 2015 state average for students in public schools was 70 percent.
For LZHS, its college enrollment rate marks an improvement over 2014, when 83.0 percent of its graduates chose post-secondary education.
Among high schools in Lake County, the Class of 2015 college readiness rates at Libertyville High School (84.4 percent), Vernon Hills High School (78.9 percent) and Barrington High School (75.7 percent) were lower than that of LZHS.
The data, collected by the National Student Clearinghouse, includes two- and four-year colleges.
Enrollment at LZHS in 2015 was 2,020; 506 (25.05 percent) were seniors.
Also, ISBE said 75.0 percent of LZHS seniors were "college ready" in 2015, vs. an average of 46 percent statewide.
All students who score a 21 or higher on the ACT qualify as "college ready."
LZHS students did better on math (71.3 percent) and English (84.6 percent) and worse on science (62.5) and reading (64.7).
Only 52.5 percent of LZHS students were college ready in all four subjects, ISBE said.
