Round Lake District plans free Hispanic Heritage Month celebration for October

The Round Lake Community Unit School District 116 will host its annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Round Lake Civic and Cultural Center and is open to the public without charge or ticket requirement.

This year's theme is “Cultural Storytelling: Connecting With One Another.” The celebration will feature performances by students, staff, and special guests. Organizers invite community members to join in recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month through these presentations.

According to event organizers, "Esta celebración se llevará a cabo el jueves 9 de octubre a las 6:30 p.m. en el Centro Cívico y Cultural de Round Lake. Evento gratuito. Boletos no requeridos."

They also stated, "Este año, el tema del mes en el que celebramos la herencia hispana será llamado ‘Historias culturales: Conectándonos con otros’. ¡Venga a ver un espectáculo creado por alumnos, personal escolar e invitados especiales celebrando!"

Round Lake Community Unit School District 116 serves several schools in Lake County, including Indian Hill Elementary School, Magee Middle School, Pleviak Elementary School, Raymond Ellis Elementary School, Round Lake Beach Elementary School, Round Lake Middle School, Round Lake Senior High School, Village Elementary School, and W.J. The district employs over 500 teachers with an average salary of $69,620; about 72 percent are women and nearly 28 percent are men (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
